ATS Resume Checker for Product Managers

Product manager postings draw hundreds of applicants, so recruiters search the ATS for a short list of terms before they read anything: roadmap, discovery, experimentation, the metrics you owned. Our free checker scores your PM resume against the actual posting, shows which of its keywords you're missing, and flags bullets that describe activity instead of outcomes. It runs on your own device, with no sign-up.

How ATS screening works for product managers

PM is a role with no standard vocabulary. One company says “product discovery,” another says “customer research”; one says “experimentation,” another “A/B testing.” The ATS only knows the words in its own posting, so the resume that mirrors them ranks higher than a stronger one written in different language.

Once a human reads it, a PM resume is judged on one question: what changed because you were there? “Managed the roadmap for checkout” says nothing. “Shipped one-page checkout, lifting conversion 11%” says you understand the job. Every bullet should name a decision and a metric that moved.

Keywords that matter on a product manager resume

Use the exact wording below where it’s true of you. An ATS matches words literally, not by meaning.

KeywordWhy it matters
Product roadmap / product strategyThe core ownership terms in nearly every PM posting
Product discovery / user researchShows you decide what to build, not only when to ship it
A/B testing / experimentationThe standard signal for data-informed decisions
SQLIncreasingly a hard requirement; list it only if you can write a query in the interview
KPIs / OKRsRecruiters search for the goal framework the company uses
Agile / ScrumDelivery vocabulary, spelled the way the posting spells it
Cross-functional / stakeholder managementThe phrase for working across engineering, design and sales
Go-to-market / product launchExpected for growth and B2B roles
PRD / user storiesProof you can write requirements engineers can build from
Jira / Figma / AmplitudeTool names are cheap matches; include the ones you really use

Questions

I moved into product from another role. How do I get past the ATS?

Describe the product work you already did in the posting's words. An engineer who ran customer interviews did “user research”; a consultant who set priorities did “roadmap planning.” The ATS scores the words, and a human will then see the honest job title beside them.

Does a PM resume need a technical skills section?

Yes, a short one. SQL, analytics tools, experimentation platforms and prototyping tools are searched literally. Keep it to what you could demonstrate in an interview.
