ATS Resume Checker for DevOps Engineers
DevOps, SRE and platform postings are dense with tool names, and recruiters who can't judge the work itself search the ATS for those names. Our free checker scores your resume against the actual posting, shows which tools and practices you're missing, and flags bullets with no measurable result. It runs on your own device, with no sign-up.

How ATS screening works for DevOps engineers
Infrastructure tooling is full of near-equivalents: Terraform and Pulumi, GitHub Actions and Jenkins, Datadog and Prometheus. To an ATS they are unrelated strings. When you have used the posting's tool, write its exact name. Acronyms need care too: write “CI/CD” and “continuous integration” once each, and both “Kubernetes” and “K8s” if the posting uses the short form.
The best DevOps bullets are reliability and speed numbers: uptime, deploy frequency, lead time, recovery time, cloud cost. “Maintained CI/CD pipelines” is a task. “Cut deploy time from 45 minutes to 6 and moved the team from weekly to daily releases” is a result a hiring manager can picture.
Keywords that matter on a DevOps engineer resume
Use the exact wording below where it’s true of you. An ATS matches words literally, not by meaning.
| Keyword | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Kubernetes / Docker | The most common hard filter in the field |
| Terraform / infrastructure as code | Write the tool and the practice; both are searched |
| CI/CD | Plus your tool: GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Argo CD |
| AWS / GCP / Azure | Name the services too: EKS, IAM, VPC, Lambda |
| Linux / Bash / Python | Scripting and OS basics, still searched literally |
| Monitoring / observability | With tools: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog |
| Incident response / on-call | Expected in SRE postings |
| SLOs / SLAs | The reliability vocabulary senior roles ask for |
| Ansible / Helm | Configuration and packaging tools; match the posting |
| Security / DevSecOps | A growing requirement; mention scanning and secrets management |
Three fixes that raise a DevOps engineer resume’s score
- Use the four delivery metrics. Deploy frequency, lead time, change failure rate, time to recover. One of them, with before and after, makes a bullet concrete.
- Put cloud cost on the page. “Reduced AWS spend 28% ($410k a year) with rightsizing and spot instances.” Few candidates include it, and every manager cares.
- List certifications with exact names. “AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate,” “CKA.” Postings name them, and the ATS matches them literally.
Questions
Should I write DevOps, SRE or platform engineer?
Keep your real job titles, and use the posting's term in your summary line: “Platform engineer with 6 years of SRE and DevOps experience.” That way a search for any of the three finds you.
Are cloud certifications worth the space?
Yes. They're among the few credentials in tech that postings list by name, so they work as keywords. Put them in their own section with the year.
