ATS Resume Checker for Financial Analysts

Financial analyst postings ask for a specific toolkit: modeling, forecasting, variance analysis, and Excel beyond the basics. Recruiters search the ATS for each term. Our free checker scores your resume against the actual posting, shows which keywords you're missing, and flags bullets without dollar figures. It runs on your own device, with no sign-up.

How ATS screening works for financial analysts

The title covers corporate FP&A, investment analysis and everything between, and each uses different words. FP&A postings say budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and business partnering. Investment roles say valuation, DCF, comps and due diligence. The ATS ranks you on the posting's set, so lead with matching work.

A finance resume without dollar figures looks odd. State the size of what you analyzed, such as the budget, revenue, portfolio or deal, and what your analysis changed: “Built the driver-based forecast for a $180M business unit, improving forecast accuracy from 88% to 96%.”

Keywords that matter on a financial analyst resume

Use the exact wording below where it’s true of you. An ATS matches words literally, not by meaning.

KeywordWhy it matters
Financial modelingThe top search term; mention three-statement models or DCF if relevant
FP&A / budgeting / forecastingThe corporate finance core
Variance analysisA literal phrase in most FP&A postings
Advanced Excel (INDEX/MATCH, pivot tables, macros)Name the features; “Excel” alone is weak
SQL / Power BI / TableauIncreasingly expected for analysts
Valuation / DCFFor investment, banking and corporate development roles
Financial reporting / KPIsWhat you deliver to leadership
Business partneringSignals influence beyond the spreadsheet
SAP / Oracle / Hyperion / Anaplan / AdaptivePlanning systems, searched by name
CFA / MBA / CPACredential filters in some postings

Questions

How do I move from accounting into FP&A?

Bring forward anything that looks ahead: budgets you helped build, variance explanations you wrote, forecasts you supported. Accounting looks back and FP&A looks forward. Show you've done both.

Should I list CFA progress?

Yes: “CFA Level II candidate.” It's a literal keyword in investment postings. In corporate FP&A it matters less than modeling and business-partnering experience.
